Thu, 16 Aug 2007 Most people have heard of a Rube Goldberg device, but most probably don't know who the man was. Rube was not an inventor, he was a cartoonist whose pictures of insanely complicated devices for accomplishing mundane tasks were popular in the early 20th century. He was a bay area guy, hailing from SF and trained as an engineer at UC Berkeley. He drew lots of comics for different publications until he finally came up with a character called Professor Lucifer Gorgonzola Butts who created the absurd contraptions of which Goldberg is best know for. The video I've embedded above is from a Japanese TV show that created a bunch of Goldberg-style devices and set them in motion. Enjoy! [/topics/arts/comics] permanent link
I'm not going to tell you who to vote for, but to not share your love of Hijinx with the world would practically be a crime against humanity. Won't someone please think of the children! [/topics/store] permanent link |
